Building Peace Together

At Peace Learning Center, we believe peace starts with people. Since 1997, we have helped young people and adults build the skills they need to navigate conflict, strengthen relationships, and create more connected communities. What began with community advocates like Julia Carson and Pat Payne, who understood that youth are the solution and not the problem, has grown into a home for practical tools that help people communicate, cooperate, and thrive.

Over the past year, we have sharpened our focus on what we do best. This includes restorative practices, conflict resolution, social emotional learning, and leadership development for young people. It also includes communitywide efforts that bring adults into the work of peace. One example is our training partnership with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. Through this collaboration, officers learn how to interact with youth in ways that reduce conflict, prevent unnecessary arrests, and increase positive and successful outcomes for young people. This work builds trust, lowers the likelihood of violence, and creates safer communities for everyone.
