The Indiana Health Care Foundation's mission is ...

providing financial support to individuals seeking to further their education and training in support of their work in long term care settings such as nursing homes, assisted and independent living communities, as well as adult day care facilities and home health settings.

MEET HEATHER....

Heather began her career in long-term care at just 15 years old. She started as a CNA at Parkview Nursing Home (now Essential Senior Health and Living) and instantly felt called to serve.

Nearly 30 years later, Heather is still caring for Indiana seniors in the very same community—supporting residents, mentoring staff, and uplifting families through every stage of care.

When Heather decided to pursue her RN, tuition costs created a heavy burden. Like many caregivers, she faced the challenge of working full-time while supporting a family and continuing her education.

That’s when the Indiana Health Care Foundation stepped in.

These scholarships made it possible for Heather to:

✔ Stay in school

✔ Support her family

✔ Work a minimum of 30 hours per week

✔ Stay active in long-term care

✔ Complete her RN at Leffler Academy

Heather says:

“I am so grateful. These scholarships made it possible for me to continue my education while still working and being a mom and wife.”

And now, Heather will step into the role of Director of Nursing at Essential Senior Health and Living — a full-circle accomplishment 30 years in the making.
