We are Friends of the White River. We advocate for the preservation of the river as Central Indiana’s most precious natural resource. We represent the people who use the river for outdoor recreation, those who live near its banks, and all citizens who benefit from the river.

No one person, organization, or effort can protect the White River alone. A healthy river requires a community of caretakers — those who play, learn, and work along its banks. Through collaboration, education, and hands-on stewardship, Friends of the White River connects people to their watershed and empowers them to make a lasting difference.

Each year, we lead outdoor recreation and education programs, organize community river cleanups, and promote watershed restoration through native plantings, invasive species removal, and streambank stabilization.
